What is Gensler? Why is it unique?

Gensler is a global architecture, interior design, and planning firm that embraces a culture of research and innovation.  With a multi-disciplinary staff of over 120 professionals, our Denver office works with clients of every type – real estate developers and owners, technology, professional services, financial, consumer products and others.  We deliver a variety of project types and sizes, from headquarters to small creative workplaces.

I co-lead Gensler Denver’s interiors studio. Within that studio, I spearhead a team of talented designers that focus on Building Repositioning and Landlord Services.  This team specializes in tenant planning, lobby renovations, and building amenities.

What is most important to your company when working with a client?

Our mission is to design for the client. We help companies use design to strengthen their business goals and enhance the way people work and play.  It’s not about what Gensler wants, but what the client envisions. We want to make a client’s everyday work easier so that they can grow and be successful. Our work is not about our agenda, it’s about theirs’.

What trends are you seeing in workplace design?

Currently, companies want a balance between spaces for focused work and collaborative projects. In order to succeed in an open environment, you have to have that balance. We are a researched-based company that goes to lengths to understand what works, and we concentrate on what individual industry types are looking for, which then informs our design. We not only design for what they need now but provide solutions that might arise.

What is most important to you when working with a dealer?

Listening. Being proactive. Being conscious of our design intent and our client’s needs.

Why do you love this industry?

Working in this industry satisfies my creative side. And, I love seeing the finished work, when a client says that this is all that they have ever wanted. That makes coming to work fun, it’s amazing.

Working with Contract Furniture?

Our relationship with Contract Furnishings has been amazing. I appreciate that they are small and boutique with the one-on-one service that we need. They are integrated into the entire process – from specs to install – and know my project inside-and-out.
